Amari Baking Center

Amari Baking Center offers baking classes to individuals who want to learn how to bake using original Cookswell charcoal ovens. We also offer basic business start-up training for those who want to start small baking businesses. We do groups vocational training anywhere in East Africa as well. We hold classes in our home-based bakery workshop located on Ndwaru road off Naivasha road, next to Pelida School.

We’re In the Riruta/Waithaka area in Nairobi. We use original Cookswell charcoal ovens to bake and train our students due to their efficiency, effectiveness and economy. They are the best option for anyone starting a small baking business on a budget.

We offer group classes of up to 4 students for each class. This ensures a personalized learning atmosphere for everyone. Amari Baking Center also offers one-on-one classes at an extra cost. We schedule different courses each month and students can book a class a month before based on their preference and current intake.

Amari Baking Center – Our Story

Amari Baking Center is a startup that was founded in February 2012. It was founded by Maureen Kamari and co-founder, Elaine Kamari, her sister.

Amari Bakery Center started on March 15th, 2012 as an online delivery bakery producing fruit breads and delivering them to customers all over Nairobi. This was due to a need we identified at that time of lack of fruit breads variety in the market. There was also a limited number of bakeries that offered free delivery in Nairobi at the time. In April 2013, Amari Baking Center moved to a shop on Kikuyu road, but due to poor location and early expansion; the shop had to be dosed and business moved back to its home base in Ndwaru road, Riruta.

In August 2014, we chose to focus on the baking classes due to high demand and we stopped offering baked goods for sale. We realized that there was a need for individuals to learn how to bake using economical equipment, such as the Cookswell charcoal ovens, in order to gain skills that could help the start small income-generating baking activities. We also changed our name to reflect our current products and services – Amari Baking Center.
